"Cushioned Edges" gets 2015 off to dramatic start

MDC's staged reading of Cushioned Edges, Michelle T. Johnson's new drama about art, relationships, and mental illness, drew a thoughtful, diverse crowd of new-theatre enthusiasts. The lively talkback afterward proved to be another important step in the process as Johnson prepares this new work for a potential debut at this summer's Kansas City Fringe Festival.

Once again, a talented creative team brought a previously unknown world to life--special thanks to director Teresa Leggard and her cast: Jason Miller, Alisha Espi, Frank Oakley III, and Karen Cline Wright. And, of course, the evening was only made possible and worthwhile due to the mix of "regulars" and MDC first-timers who came out on a cold night to see this play in its world premiere.
